Who's switching on the lights? Linda Barker or Shaun Wright Phillips's Gran?
Frank bruno, so he can see how the marvellous station he opened is getting on
I think we might be avoiding all that cult of celebrity stuff!
Why not Andy coulson
The tree lights were on this evening???!
Another Coulson exclusive...?
It doesn't count if there is no mulled wine, music or carol singing. As a result the lights must be off despite any visible signs to the contrary :-)
Shouldn't Christmas lights be cut out as part of the austerity measures along with teachers' pensions etc.?
The lights were provided by the council (part of street lighting), the tree was not provided through central funding but was purchased using money from the locality fund (chosen by local councillors), the decorations were provided by Forest Hill Society for the second year.
what about the tree's pension when it's retired? Who's paying for that?
Why cant the tree pay for it's own pension like a large sector of society?

Since this tree was cut down in its prime, then I would imagine it might consider applying for the Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and/or the Disability Living Allowance (DLA).

So, it's not really a Forest Hill Christmas tree lighting ceremony - it's more like a Forest Hill Christmas tree visiting ceremony? Laugh
I don't think I'm going to satisfy anybody with my poor excuses, but the lights come on every day at around 4pm, I assume. So the lights will switch on that evening. Just because it has been 'switched on' everyday for two weeks beforehand doesn't mean we can't turn it on again. Smile
So it's a bit like switching the lights on at home when it gets dark?
I'm not sure it was meant to be like this, but we do get to see the lights for longer.
I'm told that the lights will soon be switched off until the official switching on. I should make it clear that this is not a strike by the trees' union over unfair dismissal of trees after the festive period.

Anybody who missed the preview show will be able to look forward to the official switching on Saturday 10th December from 3.30pm
Follow a bit of confusion about whether lights should be on or off I wanted to remind you that you can enjoy the big switch on taking place tomorrow afternoon with mince pies, mulled wine, and carols.

Station forecourt, from 3.30pm
Took the kids along today to sing some carols. Very nice atmosphere. Thanks for the invitation to join the Forest Hill Society Michael!
