Hello,
I am the new secretary of the Friends of Blythe Hill Fields. I would like to invite everybody to our next meeting on 6 December at 7.30pm. It will be held at the Honor Oak pub and newcomers are most welcome.
The Friends are an organisation set up to ensure that the fantastic open space that is Blythe Hill Fields is looked after and organise events such as the Blythe Hill Fields festival as well as tree and bulb planting. We will be discussing next year's festival as well as asking for suggestions as to any other activities that people would like to see take place as well as having a general discussion as to the overall upkeep of the fields.
A representative of Glendale, who are Lewisham's park contractors, will be in attendance and so any questions or concerns as to the maintenance of the fields can be put to him.
If you cannot attend but would like to learn more about the Friends, please visit our website at
http://www.blythehillfields.org.uk or contact me at secretary@blythehillfields.org.uk
Thank you
Leo Stevens
Secretary of Friends of Blythe Hill Fields
Just a reminder about our next meeting at the Honor Oak Pub, St Germans Road, SE23 on 6 December at 7.30pm.
Hope to see you all there.
Thanks Leo, will try and make it.
Is funding for Blythe Hill Fields secure from the Council or it could still be cut? Lots of London parks are suddenly without funding from next year onwards.
Dear Mr Wandle,
A representative from Glendale, who are Lewisham's parks contractors, will be present so your question will be put to him at the meeting.
Hope to see you there
Leo
Unfortunately I can't make this meeting. Soon to be moving very near Blythe Hills and would like to be involved. Can you post up here when the next meeting will be?
Dates have not yet been confirmed but should be announced at the meeting so I will post these up along with minutes next week
Please find the latest minutes attached.
We are hoping to plant some trees in late January/early February if there are any volunteers and are also looking for volunteers to help organise the Blythe Hill Fields Festival, which will be taking place on 7 July.
If anybody is interested in joining the mailing list, volunteering or suggesting any other events that could be held on Blythe Hill Fields, please email me at secretary@blythehillfields.org.uk

Just a reminder that our next meeting will be held on Tuesday 17 January 2012 at 7.30pm in the crypt of St Hilda's Church, Brockley Road.
An agenda is attached and we are looking for volunteers to help organise and run the festival in the summer.
The festival is run entirely by volunteers at the Friends as a community festival and any help that you can offer would be greatly appreciated so that we can have another successful day.
Looking forward to seeing you there.

Hello,
Minutes of the last meeting attached.
We are hoping to have a hedge planting session on Saturday at 10am but this is dependent on the weather.
I will post an update on Friday to confirm whether this is still going ahead.
Please feel free to come along and help us to plant the hedges kindly donated by the local girl guides. You will need to bring your own tools.
Thank you
Leo Stevens
Thanks for this Leo,
Is it ok to bring a toddler along to the hedge planting? How will we know if it's going ahead on Sat or not?
That's not a problem although you will need to keep an eye on them. My 4 year old loves digging so I might bring him along too if its not too cold.
I will post a message up here on Friday to confirm whether or not it is going ahead otherwise if you want to send me a PM with your personal email address in I will respond to you directly.
Thanks
Cheers Leo,
Will of course keep our eye on the little one, will also check back on Friday to see if it's on. Thanks.
Unfortunately the planting day on Saturday has been cancelled due to the inclement weather and conditions.
We are hoping to plant the hedges on 10 March now but I will keep everyone updated.
Thanks Leo,
It is cold out there. Hope to see you in March.
Hello,
I moved to a house near Blythe Hill Fields last October and I'd like to get involved in the festival this July.
I'm a community art teacher, currently on maternity leave from Morley College, where I work part-time.
I'd like to volunteer to teach a kite-making workshop in the Blythe Hill Fields festival if you're interested in having this activity. I taught this workshop previously at a family fun day at Morley College last year, and would be happy to volunteer to do it in the festival if you can cover the materials expenses.
I can come to the next Blythe Hill Fields meeting if you're interested in me teaching the kite workshop and can discuss it further then.
Best wishes,
Catherine Walsh.
Catherine,
That sounds like an excellent idea and I will put it on the agenda for the next meeting if you can make it.
The next meeting is to be held on 6 March at the Ackroyd Centre in Ackroyd Road at 7.30pm.
Leo
OK, great. I'll come to the meeting on the 6th.
Catherine.
Hello,
Please find attached the agenda for next week's meeting.
The tree planting session that was postponed due to cold weather will now take place on 10 March at 10.30am. Please feel free to come and help us plant the trees donated by the Girl Guides.
We are also looking for volunteers to help organise and run the festival and also if anybody is interested in having a stall at the festival.
Look forward to seeing you there
Leo
