Apparently all the lead has been stripped off the roof of the Old PO sorting depot, Devonshire Rd (FH end). Looks like this building will now just slowly rot as there are now great big gapping holes in the roof; shame. This building has such a pretty facade. Just to warn anyone who walks pass the ugly site entrance, one of the 6ft tall wooden gates is only being held into place by just ONE screw, might be worth avoiding with young children or dogs.
What a shame. Building was worth preserving. How could this happy in a busy street , what were the good burghers of Devonshire Rd doing. When I lived there I am sure would have been spotted .
The toerags have also stripped the lead off the electricity substation gutters!

Have reported this to EDF.
What a pity they did not get an electric shock each.
******!

I love this building, why has it blocked up for so long?

Just think, if squatters had been living there this theft probably wouldn't have happened. Rolleyes

Can we join funds and buy this place?!
We live in Perry Rise and last week over 2 consecutive nights there was an attempt to get the lead from the top of the recording studio (behind the parade of shops at the end of Perry Vale). Luckily they didn't manage it as it was too difficult a job, and then on their return the next night (probably with more tools) the owner scared them off. BUT they also must have climbed into our garden, had a good snoop around and took my partners newish bike whilst trying to get the lead. Bike was locked up but they took bike and left behind the front wheel and lock!!! ARGGGGG

Sorry about yout trauma. Was this the firestation end or the station end ?
The old sorting office on Devonshire Road was granted planning permission in April last year for a mixed use scheme retaining most of the existing building (main volume and frontage). It includes some 'houses' to the rear of the site and flats and studios within the main building.

Lets hope they make a start on it soon.....
Anyone fancy contacting the applicant to ask about their proposals?

Satchers: perhaps the Chair of the Forest Hill Society planning/development committee could contact the applicant?
