Hi thought it might be good to have a post about any local Forest Hill Royal Wedding Day celebrations.

Any plans for a town party? Street parties?
The Forest Hill Society in conjuction with the 'Sylvan Post' will be organising a celebration from 2-5pm at the old post office on Dartmouth Road.

Details from posters that will be going up very soon:
From 2-5pm, on Friday 29th, we will be holding a wedding party in and outside the Old Post Office. Antic (the owners) will be selling bottled beers/ciders and if a nice day set out a living room outside. Please bring food to share as well as friends & family and lets enjoy a day off in Forest Hill!

Fun activities for all:
Pin the crown on the prince and princess
Fancy dress competition best prince and princess
Guess the weight of the cake
Royal wedding themed art activities

Bunting provided by Messy Makers and Stag & Bow.
Great idea - hope to come.
Fantastic idea. Well done. We will definitely be supporting you.
I'm just popping by Stag & Bow now - they are running a bunting workshop tonight to 8.30pm and tomorrow 10-12 to make some additional bunting for the FHS/Antic event on Friday. I have also seen the Messy Makers bunting - and it is fab.
The Hob is opening at 10 to show the wedding and there's a BBQ from 1 - according to an email they sent earlier.
Really excited about this, look forward to supporting the celebrations! Thumbsup Wondering how many other couples are thinking of coming out in their fancy dress?
Should be a hoot. I can't wait.
Just got back. Very nice occasion, excellent beer, talked to several interesting neighbours. Thanks for arranging it, FH Society.

Hope you enjoyed it, Roz. I assume it was you with the Union Jack painted on your face? I wondered whether to introduce myself to you, but I'm afraid I chickened out.
I'm not sure why but the 'modest celebrations' organised by the Forest Hill Society have been contrasted with 'Muslims Against Crusades':

Extraordinary that the FH Soc should get mentioned in the same article as 'Muslims against Crusades'! I think we probably had a much more pleasant afternoon than the clowns in Soho Square.
This is all very enlightening. I hadn't realised there were clowns in Soho Square or I'd have taken my children to see them.

I also wasn't aware that Anglesey was in the ' North of England'. I wonder if this was written for an American audience. As we know their geography isn't great.
All very strange how the loyal celebrations in SE23 and elsewhere got confused with nasty demonstators.
I trust any that are not 100% British Citizens will be sent right home.

It was indeed great how nearly everybody enjoyed themselves on Friday .
Hi All,

At last, I've managed to put the photos on flickr. Do feel free to add your own and thank you everyone who came out for the afternoon.
