Ideaal Art have an exhibition on at the library consulting on a new art installation for Forest Hill.

The consultation is in it's second week and is open until 11 December.

There are four artists being considered

• Artmongers - 'Hop to the Horniman' - a series of engraved and painted paving slabs leading from the Station to the Horniman
• Lubna Chowdhary - No title - Wall art along side of Energie Fitness looking like a family tree, relating to exhibits at the Horniman
• Alma Tischler Wood - Sound Wall - Series of tiled panels with hidden words related to sounds of instruments at the Horniman (such as 'bang')
• Joep Overtoom - The Journey - Series of six panels along wall between Energie Fitness and Sainsburys' car park. Panels will be based on African, Asian, Oceanic and American collections with two scenes of Forest Hill.

Family (inc. boys 10 & 7) saw the exhibition in the library at the weekend.

Artmongers: as the artists do admit, the pavement will get filthy, so not best place for art.

Alma Tischler-Wood - family thought this one was too complicated.

They weren't able to tell me which was which out of the other two, but they liked the one with the 3-d butterflies.

Looking at their portfolios Chowdhary and Overtoom seem the most talented.
The other two look weak in my opinion.

Went to the Library today to have a look. I wouldn't call it an 'exhibition': 3 table-top display panels on the bit that leads up to the children's section. Wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't been looking for it. Anyway, didn't like any of the proposals. Ended up writing an essay in the comments section about how badly promoted it's been.

Subject: Artmongers Creative Session @ Horniman Museum this Sunday

As you might know, Artmongers has won a commission to make a participatory artwork on the sidewall of Sainsburys in Forest Hill. We are running a creative session at the Horniman Museum this Sunday 31st of January and the following 7th of February.
They will be held at 3.30 pm in the Education Centre.

The Theme is ?Theatrical Transformation? and will draw inspiration from the collection ? with focus on Butterflies and Masks. All Welcome, specially local folk, to influence the outcome.

According to a poster on the 'Town Centre' noticeboard outside WHSmiths, Artmongers will be holding two workshops in local pubs over the next couple of weeks:
