I have a question about Oyster cards and London Bridge.

Does anyone else get off a train from SE23 in the morning and head across the concourse then through the Platforms 1-6 corridor and across the Tooley Street footbridge?

Obviously, you have to go through three barriers if so. The last three mornings my Oyster won't open the last barrier, and the last three evenings it won't open the barrier onto our platforms. I thought my card might just be faulty, and didn't make the link until this morning: the barriers at the end of P12 were open, and I got through the two on the P1-6 bit no problem.

So I think the gates have been reprogrammed. Anyone else share the experience?

Haven't had that problem because I always use the stairs ober the platforms and exit from platform 1/2 if I'm using the Tooley Street footbridge - it's much quicker that way too (although obviously that isn't an option for those with mobility issues and I don't know whether you fall into that category Baboonery)

In my opinion its been a complete shambles at London Bridge over the last few days. Half of the gates have the oyster card readers taped over and the other half have the ticket slots taped over. There is always a shuffling queue to get out in the morning rush hour.

More incentive to get back on my bike..

I don't, but I'm reluctant to use the stairs in the morning because I can't really be bothered. I think I'm ahead of myself actually being out of the house fully dressed, so stairs are low on my list of priorities.

Is it really quicker? I suppose it might be if you come in on 14-16, particularly 14 like today's 0843 did, anomalously, but otherwise I don't think it is. When I used to get the 0821 there's a girl from work who lives in West Norwood and had a paper season - she would go from P8 over the bridge to P5/6 and then through, but I'd usually beat her.

I suppose we're now daring admin to move this exchange to Beyond, aren't we?

I guess it depends on whether you're at the front of the train or in the middle - there also seems to be fewer people at the platform 1/2 exits so there isn't the same crush to get through as there is on the main concourse. I reckon it's quicker to use the stairs but then I tend to take the steps 2 at a time - I don't often go that way - only when I'm on my way to a morning gym session (which,oin these dark winter mornings is a very rare occurrence)
