Hello,
I have heard that FH (and HOP?) have one of these, but I have no idea what the job title means, or what (if anything) they can/should do for our town centre.

Can any of you wiser people tell me?

Thanks,

A few of us have been asking the question for some time. Hopefully she will post one day.

There?s quite a lot on Lewisham?s website about Town Centre Management for FH and HOP (even strategies and action plans, would you believe!). Haven?t finished reading it all yet.

Town Centre Management ? general
http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/Business/Town...anagement/

South Lewisham (incl Forest Hill) Town Centre Management (ie Julie Sutch)
http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/Business/Town...gement.htm

Town Centre Management Strategy 2007-2010
http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/Business/Town...rategy.htm

South Lewisham Strategies (?Forest Hill and HOP Town Centre Strategy? and ?South Lewisham Action Plan?) [these documents cover the period 2006-2009 but were put online in November 2007]
http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/Business/Town...tegies.htm

Issue 4 of Lewisham?s Renewal Newsletter ? two articles relevant to Julie Sutch/Forest Hill: ?Supporting young black enterprise in Forest Hill? and ?Forest Hill Inward Investment meeting?

Generating such bumf is a stock-in-trade.

The meeting was a year ago.

What have the elusive Sutch or the Lewisham apparatchiks actually done? Apart from developing "strategies" and writing "plans" to ensure they "meet KPIs" for "engagement" with an appropriately "diverse" range of "stakeholders", including, of course, "BME" people?
It's probably not easy being a visible town centre manager if you have no money to spend!
The leaflet referred to here:
http://se23.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=369
was produced by the town centre manager. She did similar leaflets for the other town centres that come under her remit.
It's not just about money, though, is it? She could start by posting on forums lke this where she can explain the issues to 700 people and counting, or she could start by being more proactive with businesses that open - ie making sure FH shopfronts confrorm to the conservation area remit, for example.
A leaflet for each area? Wow, that's some output for a full-time post.
