Has anyone else noticed that the new signage that has gone up in front of Bubbles Food and Wine on Brockley Rise has an apostrophe in the wrong place? It is written as 'You'r local food and wine'. It most definately does not need an apostrophe. It's pedantic but annoying, surely someone should have said something at the sign company!

That's pretty bad. My favourite "worst shop sign apostrophe" of all time goes to a pub called Monroe's in Bridgend in South Wales that had a sign saying, "Wale's favourite pub". They also tied in the Monroe theme by offering "Some like it hot and cold platter."

To be fair though many of these mistakes are by people whose first language isn't English. They can speak English better than I can speak Chinese.
On bad grammar : My bug bear is the 'Shop Local' campaign that Lewisham council are running. They have had signs and bags made up saying 'Shop Local'. Is it me or have we forgotten that the adverb properly describes the verb 'to shop' ie. 'Shop LocaLLY at Honor Oak etc...'? No one else I have mentioned it to, including the council, seem bothered that they are contributing to the demise of our language ..in it?

There's loads of dodgy Chinese/Japanese around in London. Be careful what you buy. Often it's just randomly typed characters which don't really mean anything, but you also get weirdness like a pair of slippers with the character for "wind" on them, or a baseball cap that says "dog" or a t-shirt saying "sweat".
Well, we do the same thing - clothes and fabric with Chinese or Japanese symbols on it, having no idea what it means
