Can't you just vote for both? You can run a separate restaurant poll in future if you want. However, you can still just go to Tapastry for drinks if you want without eating so it does qualify I'd say.
There's an awful lot of taverning here: the Railway Tavern (Telegraph), the Moor Park Tavern (Hotel) and the Forest Hill Tavern (am I forgetting somewhere - does this exist?).
And if we must have the Moor Park Hotel can we not have the Swiss Cottage please?
That is now permanently closed I believe. I don't think it stayed open enough to justify a posthumous inclusion a la MPT
As for Swiss Cottage, I would have liked to see that place myself.
I think the only issue here is the inclusion of the word "pub" in the question. It is obvious (to me) that michael was intending to cover all (on trade) licensed establishments where one might, conceivably, choose to consume a beverage without necessarily the accompaniment of food.
Does that help?
Yep a real pub, no food just beer, although crisps, peanuts and pork scratchings are aloud.
That should trim the list down a bit.

Ian - do the curators of the Victorian exhibits at the Horniman know that you have left your glass case? Or have they simply allowed you internet access in there?

would anyone actually have voted for it
I also wanted to emphasis the fact that we have quite a good choice of drinking establishments in the area, 16 is not a bad count and I don't think I have missed many more.

Doesn't matter - it sells booze and lets you drink it on the premises. And didn't have a 200-post fawning thread on the old forum, which is appealing in itself.

Yep

BD, simplifying the web
Come to think of it, I'm not sure I've ever seen it mentioned on this forum.
BD (and you CAMRA lot out there), do you not think this is an ideal candidate for an "authentic" pub for SE23? It has the pool table (I seem to recall), darts board, etc. It is a big place. I would have thought that all it needs is a manager with drive, some unusual ales, and a bit of a budget to market it and get the word out, and it could be a reasonable business.
Anyone know who owns it?
In no way is the Dartmouth a 'real pub'. You don't get sneered at for not eating in a 'real pub'.

Surprised someone can remember the Swiss Cottage, but not the Forest Hill Tavern. Now called the FHT and a gastro pub - might even be in SE22!
