No, but it was the hill at the bottom of St German's Road that was taped off at around 10, then later on in the day this extended to the pavements on both sides of Stanstead Road, and it looked like police were searching the flowerbeds of the big block of flats on Stansted Road in the afternoon. All had gone by about 8pm. Can't find any mention of any incident in the news either, but looks like it might have been quite serious.

Hi
Iwas out on Sunday at 8am and the taped of area started of Brockley Rise. At the Brockley Rise / Stanstead Rd junction there was the remains of what looked to be a very bad accident involving (at least) a large lorry and a car. The car - even from a distance was totally mangled, and its roof completely sheared off. Didn't go any closer due to numbers of police etc.

Think there are two separate incidents here.
Early on Sunday morning an M&S lorry coming up Stanstead Road from Catford towards Forest Hill was in collision with a car which was coming from Brockley Rise. According to the bloke in the newsagents (always a reliable source of info) the car had run a red light and the lorry couldn't avoid it.
In any case, there was something of a mess and the whole junction was closed off while the cops and TfL cleaned up. By the time I went through at about 10:45 the cleanup was more or less complete.
Sounds like there was some separate police activity on Monday. I'll leave it for someone else to shed some light on that.

not sure if anyone followed this up but i think this might be the reason the road was closed:

that'll be it Bjorn, they were certainly looking for a weapon in the gardens outside the big block of flats, and I saw CID there as well, guessed it must be something serious, scary stuff indeed

There was an attack, with a hammer, on a man in the street, That's all I know. Don't know if he died or not.
