London Overground will have a new operator from May 2026.
First Rail London will replace Arriva Rail London which has operated the concession since 2016.
As part of the contract with TfL, from December 2026 they plan to increase the rail service between Surrey Quays and Dalston Junction to 18 trains per hour. This will be achieved by adding an extra 2ph to Crystal Palace bringing the service from Forest Hill and Honor Oak Park to 10tph on the Windrush line and another 2tph to Clapham Junction.
Part of the reasons why the Windrush has been closed north of New Cross Gate isn't just the works at Surrey Quays station, but to upgrade the signals to allow for extra services.
Not part of our line, but they also plan to add an extra 2tph in the peaks on the Mildmay between Clapham Junction and Shepherd's Bush which will be handy for commuting between those stations if you use the Southern service to Victoria to connect to those stations.
