Lewisham are introducing a £1 for 30 minutes charge on the free parking bays on Dartmouth road and side streets, Derby Hill, Clyde Vale and Thorpewood Avenue with no return within 24 hours. Currently they are free and the time limit rarely enforced, spoke to someone who regularly parked on one and only got caught once in 10 years.

Not much publicity on this except some lamppost notices which can be removed from the 17th March so must assume introduction is imminent.
Just an update — the paid parking plans have been postponed for a few months.
The delay seems to be due to objections from local traders and the ongoing parking /sustainable streets consultation, which is set to finish soon.

The changes are likely to push more cars onto nearby residential streets and within streets away from the council parking bays — not ideal for locals who already have a hard time parking outside their homes.
