In this case I assume the original title was something like "Forest Hill Forum Alive and Well", but it's not always that easy to tell, and reading back over the thread after the change has been made can become confusing.

As the original poster, I would just like to state/confirm that the original Post Heading was "FH Forum Alive & Well!".
I had a brain fart when I posted and forgot that this forum covers Honor Oak as well as Forest Hill (where I live) so, as I could not edit the post myself, I asked for the heading to be changed so as not to annoy/offend anyone.

Yup. That "forcible de-lurk" coaxed me out of the shadows, too. 
I can see why restricting access helps to get some of those existing lurkers who have already read but not posted on the site. Unfortunately it will stop new people from being able to get a feel for the place and whether they want to join, so I am in two minds about this.
Anyway, the reason for posting was actually to say that the new format, and a large number of active new members, means that there have been 1060 posts in the last month compared to 11,000 in 5 years.
That's a pretty big step change in activity levels. Nice to see the place so active again after it had gone a bit quiet in the late sumer.

Good point. Maybe the forum should operate on a one week 'free' per month basis in order to entrap, er I mean attract, new members.
I just managed to sign up with my Hotmail account! The old forum system wouldn't let me use this address; however, Hotmail is the most reliable email server in the world, and I pay an annual fee for more space and features etc. When you are given an email address from an ISP then that only lasts as long as you are with the ISP! Anyway, I'm here now!

For some reason this thread was cited as being related to one I was looking at (no idea what algorithm produced that) but was amused to see how far we've come ....
As as today "We currently have 5,845 members registered."
That's not bad considering Sydenham has 3,700 registered users over 10 years.
However, the number of posts per day on SE23.com is considerably lower than East Dulwich or Sydenham. Any ideas why?
I could be facetious and say it's because we SE23ers work for a living and don't have time to prat about online all day...
However, I suspect the reality is that the set up of both EDF and STF is much more user friendly with all the various sections of the fora and the fact that you can openly recommend tradepeople you've used etc.
I know that I've used someone recommened on EDF to do work in my garden whereas when I asked for recommendations on here I was met with a wall of deafening silence...
