For sure, give them a call and ask them where the heck yours is. They clearly have stock now. Just in time for some rainy days. Great.

Almost filled the bin today - we are sharing with two neighbours!! Still a bit miffed that Lewisham expect us to renew subscription on 31st March 2019 though - no allowance for their late delivery!!!!!!

First successful collection of the new bin, they even brought it back onto the driveway. Bless em.
As for paying for the full year, I am still waiting for a response to my two emails to the people I was told to raise the issue with.
Won't hold my breath!

Snazy they have beaten me. Couldn't be bothered to try to contact them but thankfully it was collected on Wednesday
Lewisham Council have gone way way down in my estimation

When it comes to dealing with issues with services, I have found them to be dreadful over recent times.
Glad it has finally been collected, no issues for us so far, other than the late delivery.

Are you using the food bags and tying them up? If so, I don't know how you would get maggots. If you are putting food scraps straight in, then there is a very good chance that maggots will appear - that's why we have bags. Also need to keep the outside bin closed and sealed with the handle firmly down.

Yes we use the bags - we also had maggots in our normal kitchen bin today - disgusting!!!!!!
Just using a carrier bag now and binning each evening.

Because the hinge mechanism is weak, if dropped or thrown back by bin men the locking mechanism breaks which makes rich pickings for foxes and why you are probably experiencing maggots as flys get in, lay eggs and hence maggots.

Yes we said this some time a go about the caddy being thrown around by the Dustman.
Don't suppose the council will be replacing the broken ones anytime soon??
Then they will expect us to pay ??

I've walked along Westwood Park after the bin men have been, the food waste bins tend to get scattered anywhere convenient for the collectors, but not the householder. If only they thought about the consequences!!!
It must be an unpleasant task though especially during the current weather. Did the Council ever do a trial before rolling out the "experiment" borough wide?
If we have further hot spells, not ideal, but I found that by placing the food waste bin in the black bin, nothing can get to it.

I think one can get maggots when a fly gets to the waste and lays eggs. Happened to me once and now I am militant about keeping the lid closed and it hasn't happened since.

When ours went missing following a collection day it was eventually replaced. I also notice that they tend to be dumped randomly after being emptied and have resorted to decorating ours with the house number.
Have also had a fox open it one night by dragging it around until the lid opened....
