Amazing sight this morning outside of coop on A205. Pigeon was downed in middle of the road by what I can only assume was a hawk or sparrowhawk. Serious amount of feathers, and the hawk then just landed in the middle of the road and started to pluck at the pigeon! Is this normal for our area? Never knew that birds of prey like that were wild? Last roadkill like that I observed was at the local kebab...
I saw the same happen in my back garden several years ago.
Most likely a Sparrow Hawk. We have one in our garden from time to time. Low flying bullet.
