and lo, inactivity and obesity among young people shall rise yet further. It's hard to disagree that there are services in more urgent need of the scarce (and dwindling) funds available to local authorities, but in the longer term if we want people to be active, fit and healthy, we need to make sure there are accessible and affordable facilities. (Obviously it helps if they are kept clean and well maintained, but that is for another post).
They'll be a bigger price to pay along the line, as soon obesity will become an enormous problem for the country as it is in the US.

Already 75% of people in poorer sections of society do no regular sport at all - this cut is very ill thought out.
