I couldn't agree with this initiative more. It saddens me though that the London Wildlife Trust approved Southwark Council's action to remove many mature trees at both Camberwell cemeteries, also listed. See also this thread:

It is possible that some remnants of Oak of Honor Wood, which would have been originally part of the Great North Wood, remain on One Tree Hill. Area D1 in Camberwell New Cemetery is an area of woodland contiguous with this and will be removed shortly it seems. This is on the hill but not part of the Local Nature Reserve. I'm finding it hard to square how both actions can be supported by the same organisation.
