To turn the question round, do you come on here to try the anti commonsense and reason / smoke and mirrors trick of trying to blind everyone with irrelevant facts and figures and to make out the Tories are doing us and generations to come a favour by effecting the closure of educational facilities and libraries?

They are also meddling with the system, yet again, by enforcing academy status. There is no evidence to show that this will improve standards. In fact, Ofsted have major concerns over the existing quality of academy trusts. Further, in London, where there is high quality schooling, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Time to take a dose of your own medicine? A little more fact checking (from non-partisan sources) and a little less hubris would do your posts a world of good.

Oh I do apologise I thought this thread was about austerity, which I mistakenly thought the budget was intrinsically linked to...my bad.

To be fair it is a really great budget. So long as you own a house, you have a well-paid job, you don’t have any children at school and you aren't ill or disabled or young.

Plus we get to buy more Trident - happy days

Well I own a home, and one of children is 15 on Saturday - so I tale it that im in the bracket of being well off and the budget is good for me.

Yes im quite comfortable at presenet - yet this was due to bloody hard work and being very prudent at home when interest rates hit 15%, while the work shy were getting all their benefits and having 3 or 4 holidays abroad each year while I have to scrap together to have one [ in UK ], dont say they dont milk it in benefits as I know people who only work a certain amount of hours each week so their benefits are not touched in anyway

Given he studied at Oxford and has worked on several radio and TV current & political affairs shows would, I feel, give him just as much awareness of budget contents as anyone else outwith the respective cabinets & shadow cabinets, and financial industries. We all have a right for our opinions.

Perhaps I should quote a Tory comedian like Jim Davison or Roy Chubby Brown. Then again perhaps not.

I own part of a house (the mortgage provider the rest), I have a relatively well paid job (which I work very hard to sustain), my children are at school and thankfully I am not ill, disabled or indeed young by any stretch of the imagination.

However this doesn't make me think that all benefits recipients are wasters and I am 100% against cuts that make the difficult lives of the unemployed, disabled or the young even tougher.

Elected governments should, in my book, govern the whole populous not just those who are able to provide mostly for themselves.

Perhaps I am guilty of naivety in thinking we are all in this together. To paraphrase someone else's words.
