Christmas Tree lighting with carol singing at Forest Hill station. Organised by the Forest Hill Society in conjunction with Churches Together Sydenham and Forest Hill.
If you are around Forest Hill on Wednesday at 2.30pm, your help would be appreciated decorating the Christmas tree outside the station, in advance of the formal switch on, on Saturday.
It won't take long, but many hands make light work.
Hope you can join us tomorrow for lights switch on, carol singing, and the possibility of free mulled wine afterwards!
Gather at the station from 3:30pm, lights switch on will happen at 4pm prompt.
Tree has now been successfully lit, other decorations on London Road are a bit more problematic. See below update from Skanska - Lewisham's lighting contractors:
Just to let you know that we are still experiencing problems with the lamp column decorations on the TFL roads – primarily London Rd Forest Hill, and New Cross Rd. TFL have been upgrading their lamp column heads to LED fittings and in the process their contractors have cut the cables to the commando socket that the Xmas decoration plugs into. This is despite us giving them ample warning in advance , and receiving assurances that this would not happen. I will have a crew out working on the lights this week and get them working ASAP, but if you can pass the message on to anyone that is enquiring and ask them to be patient as we have a significant backlog of work.
