I've just had to watch a fencing contractor doing the back fences of a garden on a property adjacent to the nature reserve throwing 3 huge glass panels (approx 0.50x1.5 metres each noisily breaking into pieces, it took two people to even throw them over the fence) and assorted other rubbish over into the nature reserve.

Makes my blood boil. Not only is it fly tipping, but it's a danger for local wildlife as well as any kids going into the reserve with their schools(groups from local schools have been using the reserve for nature walks in the summer months). When confronting the contractor, their boss hesitantly apologized, said he didn't know his staff had acted that way (as if) and that he would insure the rubbish would be collected afterwards. Only a. it's now in a thousand pieces of glass and b. the nature reserve is locked and inaccessible, so chances of them clearing this up are zero.
Hi Tinkerbell - please do report this to Lewisham and tell the property owner, that's disgusting. Building contractors have been making a mess on Garthorne Road for a while now and the people that commission the work don't seem to know or pull them up on it.
Hi mrwandle, I've taken down the contractor's details (and a few pics), just in case, but will wait a day or two to see if they'll clean up as promised. Not that I have high hopes. The property owner might well be unaware of this.
Hi Tinklebell

I agree with mr wandle you have done the right thing and give them the advance and see if they do clear it up if they don’t and you have the name of the house owner/developer and the door number please let me know and I will pass it on to the appropriate Council department also let the police know as well on the 101 Non-emergency number and you should get an crime number and also any photos or videos of the offence will help prosecute them,

Fly-tipping will be taken seriously and will lead to prosecution and possible large fine & or Imprisonment under the Environment Protection Act 1990 Section 33.
