Hi all

Someone just escaped over my fence while I was locking up the house about an hour ago, not got any description as all I saw was the back of a black hoodie and black joggers when I ran out, sorry to say I did grab a baseball bat as I was alone with my kids

I've let 101 know so they will keep an eye on the area.

Keep safe everyone and keep an eye out.
Which area of Forest Hill were they in?
Rockbourne Road, my garden fence backs on to some new houses with a shared parking area on Rojack Road opposite what used to be The Forest Hill Hotel/Tavern which is a new build now and an easy target probably.
Hi -
We're on Waldram Park Road (which backs on to Rockbourne) and got burgled on 3 Sep - whilst I was in the garden! Ground floor flat, all the windows were locked, but they used a plastic card and slipped it down the front door to click the latch. Took all my jewellery from the last fifteen years, my handbag, my work inside the bag, my purse, sunglasses, perfume, watch, anything portable basically. They used the contactless function on my cards several times through Catford and Lewisham that night.
Police say that they often ring the bell to check people are in (even if the lights are on, they know some people leave them on to deter burglars). If you answer, they give some lie about looking for someone or other, and say 'wrong house', and if you don't answer, they try their luck and break in.
I now have the alarm on when I'm inside, and I always double lock the door and use the chain...
Police said get good outside lights, use your dead lock, keep bins away from places they can be used as steps over fences etc. It's hard to do it all, but worth doing what you can to prevent the frustration and upset of being burgled.
I'd say the majority of burglaries are just because the 2nd lock is not locked.

You might as well leave your door wide open if you don't lock it.

I think if you do that, chances are they will just move on to the next property.
I agree Decker but on this occasion I was pottering around the kitchen (doors leading to the garden) waiting to take the washing off the line before bed. Luckily I locked them in between otherwise who knows...

Sure did get a fright thou!

Seems to be quite a few burglaries around Rockbourne Road area recently but the PCSO officers are aware and doing a great job to share awareness and keep a look out. Hope we don't lose these guys due to Lewisham Council cuts, they do a great job for our community.
Any idea who's alarm went off at around 10pm last night and has been going continuously since. 101 Cant help, council no good.Cursing
That alarm is still going off. By the way, I read your post at 4.20am. Also got no sleep. Seems to be one of the basement flats.

Thankfully someone has arrived at the nursery with a 2stroke grass trimmer which is drowning it out :-/

12 hours and counting.

Any ideas?
It is 6A, they are apparently on their way back from a weekend away. I will be having a word with them as to why their alarm has been going for nearly 13 hours when the legal maximum is 20 minutes. The alarm company were next to no good "it's not monitored so we cant turn it off". Couldn't explain why it had not reset after 20 minutes. 101 Told me it "IS a civil issue" and suggested I called the council. Council work Mon to Friday!!!

I went out at 7am to see if there was any way I could get it to shut up without being arrested and met a lady from Manor Mount who had been kept up all night. My neighbours are furious as well.

All will end well, I have a party for two three year old twins to go to this afternoon.

YippeeCrying
Police on site. Owner there, faulty alarm. Waiting for someone to fix it.
Splendid, thanks for the update! Hopefully over soon then. If they need to borrow a sledgehammer...
Having been awake since 6:30 on Friday morning I am more than happy to headbutt the bloody thing off the wall. Closedeyes
Engineers has the cover off.......wait for it..............
Silence. Thumbsup

Agreed. They're looking for an easy pick
Just to warn all. I came home tonight after work around 6.30 to find my back door open and an iPad & laptop missing.

The police have been and I have asked for fingerprints to be taken so any possible local incidents can be linked. They have agreed to this and will be taking fingerprints over the weekend.

If anyone else has had a similar incident please let me know.
b*****ds. Cursing

Edit: My censored B-word was the one to do with the culprits' parentage, not anatomy. Thought I'd clarify since they're both 8-letters long.
Thanks Mr Numbers. You just made me smile 😍
I think anatomy is a better indicator of those responsible rather than the legal marital status of their parents.
