Just found out that the Moore Park garage has closed, after over half a century of business. There's a Notice of Occupation on the door of their new building; they obv didn't pay the rent. I hope Roy and colleagues are okay. Anyone know any more?
I'd be surprised if that was the case - I thought he owned/owns the freehold to the yard and buildings - I always understood that redeveloping the yard and buildings was his retirement plan - at least, that's what he told us a few years ago when we got him to service our car.

What does the notice of occupation say?
It says the landlords have taken occupation of the premises and their contents. I can't remember the names of the landlords: they were a male and a female name, neither were Roy. The details of my past conversations with him on the issue are hazy but I think he sold the freehold a couple of years back. But I took my car down to Dundalk motors this afternoon (where Roy always sent them for MOTs anyway) and they said they've heard he's been having a bad time recently: a death in the family as well as the land problems. I hope he can recover and wish him all the best.
Oh dear, how sad. Yes, that does sound like he was a tenant and the rent wasn't being paid.

I do hope it all works out for him.
Surely a great opportunity to resurrect the Moore Park Tavern?
What a shame to see Moore Park Garage closed. Roy was from the 'old school' and could fix it, repair it, renew it, if it was possible. Although his old premises were pretty run down, to say the least, he was a wizard at diagnostics (or seemed that to me). I thought his new workshop was just what he needed and hoped to be taking our cars there for another 25 years! Wishing you well, Roy.
Has anyone any recommendations for another garage for MOTs, bodywork and engineering?
