Well they do leave very little to the imagination where I work, surprised they have not been pulled up about it.

And one of them in here is at it again today, bit much really that nothing is said, bet it would if I walked in with shorts on.

The skirt is so short that it looks like a belt - now dont get me wrong, as im a normal red blooded male - yet there is a time and place for this sort of dress code

Well clearly the answer is no - you have not been asleep and woken in a time slip in the 1950s - ok yes its very nice, yet not very professional in a media publishing company - is it ?

I'm with you, Pippi. I find this comment (and the one a couple of weeks ago about watching people naked) distasteful.

What annoys me is the way some of the kids wear their trousers in the 'sagging' fashion; showing their underwear (or worse) because they think it's cool. The reality is that this 'fashion' was born in American prisons where convicts who were 'owned' would be forced to wear their trousers low/sagging in order to signify to others that they were owned. It also meant that the owners had quick access when their needs arose. I wonder if the cool kids of South London would buy a belt if they knew this?

Ed and Pippi, without wishing to be seen to be abusing, your comments seem at odd with todays society where "stars" like Rhianna, Myley Syris etc can parade around in nothing, a Kardasian can "leak" a porn tape and yet we are all expected to applaud them as they are "celebrity".

But Good Lord! Express an opinion on here and the Guardianistas pounce.

Interesting theory, Andrew1976. I'd understood it was to prevent suicide - prisoners are not allowed to wear belts, hence sagging trousers. Whichever it is, the fashion is ridiculous.

Tomcat - your theory sounds more plausible than mine. Either way, perhaps the old MoneyShop could be a new belt shop? I think whoever opens it would make a fortune...

Pippi/Edd - I do apologise if my posts offend you - yet the one the other week was stated fact about Hackney - I sadi nothing about wanting to watch people naked.

This one was also a fact, where I said I thought it was out of order that these women were very little at work and nothing is done about it

Caring about the feelings of other people has got absolutely nothing to do with some newspaper and whatever nebulous principles it is supposed to represent. Well I do apologise if my normal red blooded male upset or offended anyone - yet you have to remember, im for a different era, as im more than likely old enough to be your father and we were not as well educated as people are now, i left school ar 16 and worked ever since. So maybe sometimes we slip back to the past

FH you seem like a decent person, and I didn't really have a problem with the gist of your original comments (appropriate clothing in the workplace etc), but some of the wording *could have* offended a few different sectors of humanity, is all....
The Guardian-hating poster a few posts up tho'. Yes, we could all bang on about what a pain it is to patrol ourselves, our language, our thoughts - 'oh the PC madness of it all!!' etc. etc.
Or we could congratulate ourselves on the giant strides we've made in the last few decades in some (not all) areas of our human evolution, which have made it somewhat easier for people to exist who might previously have been marginalised, persecuted, exploited, abused, or not viewed as 'normal', 'equal', or as deserving agency in their own lives, in previous eras.
I say yay to that, personally.
And I don't even read a newspaper, so there!

Pippi - I agree about the leaps and bounds we have made as a society since the awful 70s.

Not sure if you were around in the 70s - yet you wouldnt believe what went on and it was on TV. However eduaction can surely only make us better people and have a better understanding of others if they chose a different lifestyle
