Called into the DIY shop near Provender a week or so ago. There was an empty room and the guy said they were changing from DIY Shop to Bathroom Shop.
In recent years it had not been the best DIY shop but I am sure there is a market for a good DIY Shop.
As for a bathroom shop in todays economic climate , no chance. Anyway modern bathroom shop near Torygraph.
I gieve it 6 months at most.
Used the shop regularly until recent years. Can anyone tell me what happened to the previous owner - Fred? Charming chap (and his good lady)
Probably would have been more use if they had turned it into a bathroom

I had heard them talking about changes/closing, glad to see it is actually turning into something, even if I have grave doubts about the business model

I wish them luck
I didn't even know there was a DIY shop in FH. I discovered the one in Sydenham early this year - it's fantastic, a real gem of a shop.
I guess you're talking about Sam-Bri's? I liked that place and used it quite often and thought it was really handy having a DIY shop so close by. Really sorry to hear its closing down and turning into a bathroom store, which I agree seems like a bad idea.
I used it quite a bit as I always preferred a more personal service to Homewaste or Dickes. However I must admit they often lacked in stock. One of the partners is buying the other partner out. Most of their business is trade and bathrooms is where they make their money. I actually bumped into him and his family on holiday in Lyme Regis during August (which was a little weird). He was just about to sign the papers on the shop. Nice chap, met his wife and kids too. I say good luck to him!
