Planning application in for change of use of 49A Dartmouth Road (next to the jewellers) from A1 shop to A3 restaurant. Looks like the applicant wants to open an eat-in pizza restaurant.

CHange of Use Application for 49A Dartmouth Road

Looking through the planning docs, it looks like it would be a second branch of "Il Mirto", who have a restaurant at 5-6 Melbourne Grove in East Dulwich.

Il Mirto Restaurant
Great news.
I used to live in ED and although I never ate in Il Mirto I did get their pizzas to take away a few times. They were really great value and far superior to traditional pizza takeaways (ie Dominos etc) although I don't think they deliver - collection only. Very pleased to see them coming to Forest Hill.
Cant wait! Great news!
From the planning notice just next to the one about the new restaurant, it also looks like Aga's Little Deli has applied for an alcohol licence till 11pm on certain days.

Maybe they're planning on opening in the evenings and selling wine etc....
I think I may need to object to this planning application.

There are only seven tables shown in the floor plan. That's nowhere near enough for the demand for a good pizza restaurant - just pop into Sodo in HOP to see that.
I was about to comment that the unit appears very small for its proposed use. Michael beat me to it, with actual data. Drat.

Il Mirto is very popular with SE22/SE5 based friends, mind, so I hope a way can be found.
Could I ask why Michael feels he should object to the planning application on the basis of the unit's size? What harm would it do to anyone if it's a small restaurant? Genuine question.
I think Michael is teasing! Smile
Ah, sorry. Planning application gags are not my forte. Thought it was an odd thing to complain about.
I hope it is the pizza dough people who live on Woolstone road, and do the pizza nights in St Davids cafe.

Forest hill is desperate for a middle class pizza restaurant. (this is the sort of comment that people in war zone's must be very envious of)
It's Il Mirto - they run a place in Dulwich. I haven't been but I'm told it's good, and doesn't look too pricey at all.

"I say, I say, I say: My schematic drawings have got no front elevation!"
"How do they smell?"
"Bloomin' awful!"

No, Westy1980, I don't think planning application gags are anyone's forte, though it would be great to mine a rich seam of planning humour at the Edinburgh Fringe next year... Wink

pizza = overpriced bloat food
"Is that a lawful development?"

"No, I'm just pleased to see you"
If you think Pizza is 'bloat' food then you have never tried authentic Italian Pizza. Cooked and prepared properly it will have the thickness of a pancake (about 2-3mm) thin enough so you can roll it , starting at the pointed end of the slice, and hold it like a wrap. That is how Italians eat it.[/align]

Any news on this? Was the application granted?

If you click on the link for the planning application earlier in the thread, the webpage says "withdrawn"
Last time I looked there was lots of catering equipment piled up in there, so I guess the applicants are still hopeful of obtaining permission at some point.

The number of empty units is starting to creep up again, which is a shame. Besides the estate agent on London Road, the Money Shop, and From the Forest, the unit currently occupied by Doopo Doopo is also to let.
No problem Michael, I'm sure planners can come up with an A380 sort of magic permit to suit your needs for more tables. They can just order a mezzanine level from Toulouse and hey presto, 4 more tables. Who needs headroom anyway, it's over-rated. And I'm sure we can squeeze in another table for 2 just above the loos. Sorted.

....I really would love a pizza now...just sayin'
