You Said, We Listened, We Did
We’ve been conducting traffic operations throughout the ward recently and have been using the speed gun on Sydenham Hill advising those motorists caught exceeding the speed limit. We would like to take this opportunity to remind motorists that this stretch of road is subject to a 20 MPH speed restriction. There are suitable speed restriction signs along this road that are reinforced by 20 MPH lettering painted onto the roads surface. We will continue to be on this stretch of road for this purpose over the coming weeks.
We have also been in the town centre following further complaints of fast food delivery bikes being ridden on the pavements. Management were spoken to following one such complaint with the rider receiving a reprimand from his employers.
Good News Story
Officers from your local policing team have recently made a number of arrests following a sharp increase in the theft of vehicles, namely motor cycles and mopeds/scooters across not only the ward but the whole of the south of the borough. It appears that the thefts were organised collectively with the machines being stored and subsequently broken down for parts.
Crime Prevention Advice
You may recall the recent bike marking event that was held at Finches this month. We’re pleased to say that this was well attended. Bike marking is an easy preventative tool to deter theft and went so well that we’ll be doing another one on Thursday 14th of May between 4pm and 6pm. Finches can be found on Perry Vale opposite the rear entrance of Forest Hill train station. If you can’t make this but would like to speak to us about other events such as this or any other matter then pop along to our next drop in surgery on 19th of May at Forest Hill Library between 5pm and 6pm.
