I think this is the pub that used to be the Copperfield - no chance for Antic now Sad

There seem to be fire engines from miles around in attendance!
This Is Local London website has the story and some extraordinary photos.

Traffic through Catford today is, well, forget about it...

Edit: Yep, quite right, shzl400 - it was the Copperfield: http://www.newsshopper.co.uk/news/944328...legations/
BBC Traffic: http://www.bbc.co.uk/travel/SE23/incidents/road

South Circ closed in both directions at Catford Bridge. Diversions via Portugal...
Is the South Circular still closed at Catford?

Any assessment of the scale of damage? The Fire Brigade's report seemed to imply that the pub was in a very bad way.
Could it mean total demolition?
Anyone got any pictures?
I have had some nice Sunday lunches and a pint or two in that pub.
What a terrible waste of money. Hope that the builders/owners have a good insurance policy...

Not sure about the traffic, though. Click again on the BBC Traffic link for an update.
I believe no longer anything to do with Antic or Tesco. New owners did want to convert the tops floors into flats, hopefully a pub will be there once worked out if building can be saved.
Another problem for unlucky drivers near Catford who are on the S Circular going East.
The traffic lights at junction with Canadian Avenue (just past the burnt-out pub) have now failed and the queues are building back to Forest Hill.

Third time unlucky (in only four days) for anyone using the South Circular.
And now an accident on the Catford Gyratory....can it get any worse?????

Oh, crumbs! Don't say that or it will! Scared
