There's a very hungry determined black cat with a white chin waylaying people as they walk between Devonshire Road and Davids Road on the South Circ. I gave him some food which he wolfed down. He seems to live very close because although he followed me and another woman some distance, he wouldn't go far from that area. Does anyone know where he/she lives? The photos aren't great but give some idea. Thanks.
Hi - I think I saw a sign on Taymount Rise tied to a tree at the bottom of the hill. I only half glanced it but I think it was asking for help finding a black and white cat. I'll have a look as I go past tonight and check. Apologies in advance if I am mistaken!
Hi Jane D,
Here is the sign I was mentioning. Someone is looking for a black cat in the area. I've just messaged Paula the link but not sure it describes the same cat..
I recognise this cat, and, in fact, saw him this morning being made a fuss of by a Devonshire Rd resident who said that a woman living in the house looked after the animal.

He sometimes hangs out in Benson Road and has been seen there from time to time over several years. He then disapears, and clearly has a large territory with many places where people will give him some food.

At one point he had a territorial dispute with a friend's cat, and thence acquired the sobriquet of 'Deadly' (as in 'deadly enemy').

Deadly is a very independent and characterful cat, and looks in not bad condition.
Thanks everyone who responded. Good to hear that Deadly is OK. His manner to human beings is certainly persuasive and it sounds as if he can handle himself with other cats, too.
