Gogi's in Honor Oak Park seem to have closed up shop. Or maybe they are to have a refurb. Either course would be a welcome change in my view - anyone with intel?
Gogi's offies are an institution around the new x to honor oak area but the one in HOP was really run without any care or interest - really limited selection for a whole shop given over just to alcohol. I wouldnt be surprised if Sainsburys has put the last nail in.
that place was pretty run down. lets hope for a big improvement.
Gogi's deserve an award for having been consistently the most miserable outlet on the HOP parade (they weren't any more cheerful before the arrival of Sainsbury). Perhaps the staff didn't approve of selling alcohol.
well yes, in the 90s the main staff were all Sikh, but above all it always felt the least cared for of all Gogis shops in SE London. Id be miserable too
Nasty little place. The two occasions I ever had reason to go in there I got my hand creepily 'fondled' both times upon receipt of change. The dudes in there were so sleazy

Potentially libellous post Pippi, ought to be removed....
Potentially incorrect use of the term 'libelous', Hoona

slanderous, libelous, defamatory.... whichever, you ought to remove your post.
Hoona - I really can't see why.
And Gogi's is dire, everyone knows that.
Ah, are you one of those people who believe people/men should just get away with this kind of thing, and lets just brush it under the carpet?
The moderator can withdraw my post if they choose to, but as a point of principle I certainly won't. I've spoke in perfect truth and sincerity. The second time my hand was held for too long against my will was the moment I decided never to set foot in that shop again, and if it were still open I would definitely urge other women not to go there.
But it's not, it's closed down, and enough said.
While you're checking out the definition of 'libelous' you might also look up the definition of the word 'forum'.
And thanks, Medley

Have to agree it was one of the most depressing, uninviting shops I ever visited.
Always felt they thought you were gonna shoplift the lot!!!! Miserable

so, are we actually sure it has closed or are they just on holiday or ill?
it is a completely pointless shop and looks a dump - needs replacing with something good / useful
Pippi, I'm sorry if my 'libelous/libellous' post offended you. Of course I'm not the kind of person who believe men should get away with that kind of thing! I wasn't saying that. I just think we all ought to be a little more careful what we post on here. Stating that a shop is a dump is one thing but calling the owners sleazy is quite another. (I'm not saying you're lying either, in case I get accused of that too, and I'm sorry you had such an unpleasant experience.)
The world's gone absolutely mad...You can't even say someone is 'creepy' anymore. Absolutely shocking, god help our children.
And back to the subject at hand, I have no sympathy for these independence mini - marts. Sainsbury opened and you either step up or step off. I'm yet to see anyone on that high street step it up to say the standard or the turkish one on forest hill road (fantastic place much better than for choice of fresh fruit veg, breads, meat etc) the supermarket at the end of the road is pretty good also.
I was talking to the guy about this that runs the shop opposite sainsbury and he is absolutely dismayed at the thought that anyone would seem want to go into that ghastly conglomerate! I tried to point out that it might be to do with choice of produce available e.g. It sells things like chicken and fruit and vegetables!....but he didn't want to listen.
Maybe I'm just sensitive because a family member was on the receiving end of some nasty online bullying with allegations that were completely false and, despite police involvement, the damage had already been done and her reputation was destroyed. It's hurtful when it happens to you, so I'm just asking everyone to think before they post.
I'm sorry to hear that Hoona, online bullying is such a horrible modern blight, and so particularly cowardly
Robbie T, do you mean Concard supermarket? I absolutely love that place, not so much for food, but just for pretty much everything else! The guys are absolutely lovely in there as well. They do this amazing home-made lime and lemongrass cordial which I'm addicted to - it really helps with staying off the sauce on a school night haha
