I may be searching in the wrong place, but does anyone know where the posts about the Railway Telegraph have gone?
On that subject, does anyone know if the planned re-opening is happening this evening?
According to the Forest Hill Society the Railway Telegraph is reopening tonight. Judging from the photos it's looking pretty smart! Two new pub refurbishments on this side of FH within a fortnight - which drinking establishment will be next? The Chandos? That would rule out bumping into Honor Blackman
Went briefly tonight, another great addition to the area, the menu looks very impressive too, definitely worth checking out!!
I agree. Went in last night also and the place had a great buzz about it. Still has a nice 'pub' feel to it and more importantly - people having a good time.
Controversial perhaps, but in my opinion the exterior would have been more attractive and inviting if they ditched the navy paint on the ground floor windows railings etc. for a more modern colour especially as the windows on the upper floors are white.

Could work out to be a very expensive meal for a family of four with drinks.
I don't see what the issue with £4.20 a pint is? This is for a premium lager, ales are cheaper. Pretty standard London prices.
It's the same price or cheaper than the Dartmouth, Hob, Post, All Inn One (Honor Oak, possibly, not been there yet).
Same story in all the decent pubs in surrounding areas like Crystal Palace, East Dulwich etc.
In FH I think only the Bird in Hand and Capitol are cheaper, and they are pitched very much at the 'no-frills' end of the market.
Well it's £4.10 for a Fosters according to the menu on their website. Hardly premium is it?
Admittedly that is steep for Fosters pish. Best avoided.
The Asahi, Hurlimann etc. are all comparable with prices for premium lagers elsewhere though.

I tried out the Railway T at the weekend and thought it was great.
The interior fantastic & Shepherd neame beers v nice.
I much prefer the Whitstable Bay lager to any of the others on draught: very moreish!

Loved the burgers the other night, and my wife really liked the chicken burger. We'll be back.
We went two weeks ago and thought it was great! Friendly staff, nice decor and interesting food menu. We had fish and chips, the duck and a steak all of which were really nice. Recommend a visit!
Fantastic meal tonight - pear and walnut salad, chestnut mushroom pudding, plaice with beetroot mash, fruit compote all absolutely delicious and very good value, we thought, for the quality of the ingredients, freshness and speedy service. The inside of the pub is gorgeous too, though still a bit noisy. We went there when it first opened, and it was nice but nothing special - now it is a real gem.

Nice pub but at just under eleven quid for a pint of Guinness and a white wine spritzer, it won't be my regular
