Does anyone know what that huge metal structure is, sitting in the middle of the pavement outside the nail bar opposite Sainsburys?
Yes, it is scaffolding used for lifting building materials across to the site behind those shops and buildings where property developers are building some new town houses.
The nail bar and my trusty old hair dresser Mirror Mirror are affected by this horrific looking scaffolding but they have been told by the council it is not much that can be done until work is finished.

Am presuming this thread refers to the scaffolding at the side of Wspoons.
I had assumed that they were flats - didn't know they were townhouses.
Don't suppose anyone has a link to the developer/specs/proposed prices?
Am assuming that they will be finished pretty soon - developers don't usually hang around once they have started and I would expect speedy marketing, even in advance of them being finished.
I only skimmed the Decision document, Michael, but it appears that the consent lapsed 3 years ago (unless it's been renewed somehow, somewhere?)
I suspect they did just enough to keep the permission alive.
Further investigation shows that some "piling and ground beams" work was started in March 2011 - presumably to prevent the planning permission from lapsing.
It's interesting to see that access will only be via the Capitol's service road - I assume this side road is owned by the pub as it's where they have their "beer garden".
And of course the pub is leased, not owned.
And is closing soon.
