I just wanted to let you know that I received written confirmation from Sainsbury's today that they have withdraw interest in the former The Windmill Pub site on Kirkdale.
Looking forward to working with the local community to make this site work.

It's probably worth posting about this on the Sydenham Forum Paul, there is a big debate about it there, especially as Kirkdale is really Sydenham (it's our original high street), despite the super imposed and rather strange electoral boundaries!
There is a new application for the Windmill:

So after a long fight by members of the community in Kirkdale and Sydenham, it looks like a pub may remain on the site, rather than a supermarket.
Well done to all those involved.
I can't believe people would rather have a pub than a sainsburys. Sainsburys would be much more useful than a pub, and it would get used much more.
