Has anyone seen this- they show what seems to be a large council estate not unlike the ' ship' that you can see from the Horniman Gardens. Does anyone think this might be the same one?

The estate is Dawson's Heights, in London Borough of Southwark.

Our ancestors, who had an instinctive 'feel' for these things like animals know a tsunami is coming, never built on that hill, being aware that the geology was pretty unreliable even for a small hut. Along came Southwark Council in the 1970s, and took the opportunity to help their housing crisis by putting up the large block of flats we see today.

The hill is probably stabilised now, but through the 1970s there were annual spends on supplementary piling to keep it together.

Why don't we have good nicknames for urban landmarks such as this? How about 'The devil's front gunsite' on the lines of the 'devil's punchbowl'.

But is it the one in the trailer?

The devil has no need of a trailer to store his gunsites.

He is an aetherial being dwelling in an ideal realm, albeit a perverted Gegenkonstrukt of the platonic realm of true and beautiful ideal forms.

His gunsites are of this nature. However, if you are aware of an unlicensed material gunsite in a trailer, you should contact the police who may possibly arrange a crimestopper award.

Roz, is it the ad where somebody is cleaning their car, and eventually they wash all the paint off, since they're enjoying listening to the radio? If so, i think 'yes'.

Yes it is. Looks a bit like a ship but clearly not the one in Upper Dulwich Bottom! Thanks for clearing it up.
