Anyone know of any pubs in the vicinity that show footie on telly, including pay per view? Got some guests staying this weekend who will sulk if they can't watch Man U vs Spurs on Sunday afternoon... *gulp* |

The Railway Telegraph is probably your best bet. On the South Circular, Stanstead Road I think. |

There is quite a good atmosphere at the Copperfield by Catford Bridge stn with plenty of seating and cheapish booze, if that is not too far for you. From previous postings, The Honor Oak (which should be open by then) should have a tv to watch it on. Alternatively, you could always take them to Chandos. I'm sure they'll receive a warm welcome! ;0) |

Thanks everyone - I know a similar topic existed just over a year ago, but you know how things change. I'll probably try the BHT - can't really expect The Honor Oak to have sorted out the telly by its second day! |

As above The Railway has always been the best bet, big screen and few tvs to ensure you get a good view/ seat and a good crowd in general The Honor Oak will have a designated area with Sofas apparently, but I imagine you'll have to get there early. I'll be trying it out for the weekends truly big game come Saturday lunchtime! |

I would say that the All Inn One is best bet for footy. They have plasma screens and nice atmosphere (unlike Telegraph, Copperfield, Bird In Hand, Witherspoons) Not much choice really. Also, as a follow on, whats the pub down the side of Co-op called and is it any good? |

It's called The Forest Hill Hotel - been in there for a pint or two. Large, but not anything I would specifically write home about (you can probably look it up on "those sites"). No idea about the football though |

I'd agree with Djnever, the All Inn One on Perry Vale is probably the best particuarly if you're bringing 'out-ta-towners'. I've watched footie in the Telegraph and Bird in Hand, both have a specific cliental. If you get to the All Inn One for 1pm you can all sample the roast. It'll save on cooking and washing up. |

The Forest Hill hotel is worth a visit on a tuesday night. There is a 'jam' session which is quite high quality. The guys that run it are professional musicians. |

In the event, The Foresters was showing the rugby (Six Nations, fair enough I guess) so legged it down to The Forest Hill Hotel, which had a big screen and loads of space, as well as an inquisitive dog. Wasn't the liveliest of places, but we didn't feel unwelcome, and had a pleasant few hours there before heading off to The Honor Oak. Thanks for your suggestions, all. |
