Does anyone know what happened to the Christmas tree outside the train station in HOP? One day it was there, the next it was cut down.

I was walking by HOP station on Sunday evening about 7.30. All that was left of the tree was about 2 feet of the trunk and some of the lower branches. I concluded that some lovely people had decided it would be a good idea to just take the tree and the lights. Obviously they were filled with the Christmas Spirit which is why they needed the tree so badly. Peace and goodwill to all men and all that.

I hate this kind of thing. Reminds me of when I lived in E Dul and the council decided to brighten up the end of the street with a couple of planters filled with wonderful verdancy. I got about three days' worth of pleasure walking past it before someone (or more) unilaterally decided that the plants would be better off in a different, more private location.

I live pretty close and noticed first thing sunday morning that it had blown down in the high winds on saturday night. Later on that day, the tree had been sawn off and removed so I suspect the council took it away....would be nice if they gave us another though!

Captain C, are you talking about the FH tree or the HOP tree? Have I wrongly concluded that somebody nicked the HOP tree?

I was wondering where that tree appeared from too?

Just a facelift. No trees were harmed in the making of this website.

Very nice it is too Webmaster.

Seriously, I think the HOP one might have been removed due to stormy conditions we've had of late. Hopefully it'll be replaced.
