This week's Time Out puts a visit to Horniman Museum at number 27 on the list of '101 things to do before you leave London' which can be found at: http://www.timeout.com/london/features/2253/3.html [quote] 27 Eye up the walrus Sneak down to Forest Hill for what might be (whisper it) London’s best museum – the Horniman. Skeletons, pickled animals, model insects and Egyptian mummies, and the star attraction – an enormous stuffed walrus. Don’t miss the mesmerising jellyfish in the new aquarium or the Apostles clock chiming at 4pm. [end quote] One place above Horniman is Daniel's Bagel Bakery in Golders Green. They do very nice bagels, but if you are going 'across the water' to get bagels you might as well do it properly and go to H&H Bagels on Broadway (New York). It is just a few blocks up from the American Natural History Museum, which will make you feel at home, as it is a large scale imitation of Horniman Museum. |
