The one near Sainsburys( I can't mention names) is openings its NHS list for 300 people this year. I have been going there for years, and can highly recommend them. I know its harder to get on NHS lists these days so hopefully someone will find this of interest.

I have been to three in the area and the one you mention is the best by far.

The Jenner are good but they now have a restricted catchment area- try them and see - if they can't help then they will advise you what to do next.

I've always stuck with the ones by the station. Since most of the dentists are from abroad it lends a certain exotic quality to the experience.
I've also regarded dentists in all quarters as nothing more than rip off merchants.

Haven't heard anything from Roz - can anyone tell me the name of the dentist she's talking about? I can't see a dentist "near Sainsbury's", which is not a very specific address. It may be I've missed the boat now, but any info to help me deduce who she's talking about would be most helpful!

There is a list of dentists in SE23 at http://www.foresthill.org.uk/dentists.html which includes one in London Road. I hope this helps.

The NHS website has a search facility for dentists (and also doctors, pharmacies, and opticians). The blurb tells you about the new charging system and the search listing tells you whether they accept NHS patients. http://www.nhs.uk/England/Dentists/Default.aspx

No problems, Roz. I called the one on London road on the link Michael posted and they said they are always taking NHS patients, which is good news! (*flashes toothey smile*)

Old thread, i know, but having put off a visit since i moved to Forest Hill a year ago, i decided to hunt one out and have just returned from my first visit! I went to the Stanstead Road Dental Practice on...well...Stanstead Road, and it was excellent. In a converted Victorian House, well maintained exterior, modern, fresh and clean interior, friendly and professional staff and dentist. They took debit and credit cards and they do NHS work. And, handily, it's just up the road from the Honor Oak, so a post visit 'bravery award' beverage was an added bonus :) Thoroughly recommended.

Thanks nevermodern - I might just check them out as my pearlies need a visit (not been to dentist for 2 years ;-o ) The visit to the Honor Oak afterwards also sounds like a good call! Do you have the dentists number by any chance? Thanks.
