I moved to the HOP area last summer and am loving it. However, I am AMAZED by the amount of dog mess on the pavements around here. There are signs threatening fines on the lampposts and even sprayed onto the pavement, but it seems to have no effect. Has anyone else noticed this? Is anyone else concerned?

Welcome to the area.
I am afraid people who allow their animals to do such things would certainly ignore any notice and who is going to fine them and ensure it is paid

Jbird,

We have some pretty anti-social neighbours. I want to catch the culprit who makes a habit of allowing his/her pet to relieve itself outside my house several times each week, because I plan to follow him or her and relieve myself outside their front door!

Good plan Les. I wonder whether, in the run up to the local elections, any councillers or prospective counsillors would like to comment...?

Suggest you alert the local press and Police. The type of person who lets their doggies do their mess everywhere are the dregs of society and likely to turn violent

Got home tonight to find a real treat waiting for us on our path. I think I know the dog owner ( and the dog) in question as this can only have come from a large animal and I see one being walked past every day. This same person let her dog go in someone elses garden the other week and lied when I challenged her, but I did see everything - she did not pick up.
I am thinking of getting a webcam to record the coming and goings in and around our front path( no pun intended) . Does anyone know how expensive and easy to set up this might be to do and link to my pc.?

It is very easy and cheap if you want just the basics. I believe most webcams come with the software you would need (they have a "security" option which has a motion sensor and starts to record if people come into its view). It would not be feasible for watching a whole street as it would take too much memory to run it all day, but could work for your path. There is a new computer shop just behind the FH station and I'm sure they could advise you on the set-up.
