I was promised a great night in Forest Hill yesterday evening tasting fine Lambic beers. Imagine my surprise when the establishment who promised me this said they had none on offer nor did they know when they would be able to supply this. Do any of my friends on SE23.com know where I can get Lambic beer or have any interest? I will not name and shame the establishment (You know who you are!) See: http://www.beerhunter.com/documents/19133-000214.h tml for a discription of Lambic beer |

I've only lived here for a month so I'm no expert on what's in SE23, but there is a stand in Borough barket (Beertopia, I think) that carries most of the good lambics and geuzue beers as well as other top Beligain brews. The Lowlander in Covent Garden has Drie Fontaine on their menu at the moment, which is a top notch lambic. Forget about Belgos or Bierodrome, they serve everything freezing cold from fridge and still expect top dollar. Besides, their list is quite unimaginative. |

Baggydave, I sympathise I really do, but lambic beer is not that popular over here yet, probably because you can't get any? Maybe you need to do what this guy did.... http://www.jackcurtin.com/liquiddiet/B&C2002Michae l60.htm |

This is outside SE23 but only a short jog away...."Abaye" a Belgian Bar & Restaurant, beside the Glades Bromley. Serves various Lambic Beers. |

The place in Bourough market is called Utobeer, and how can I have forgotten the one place that makes Croyden worth going to, The Beer Circus. They have a cracking list of a couple of hundred Belgian bres including lambics and Geuze. |

OK thing we've taken this as far as it can go But (a) thanks for some excellent advice (b) Hope the host of the failed Lambic night is suitably shamed Have a good weekend readers. Apart from Jbird, how dare she/he suggest that Stella is (a) Lambic (b) Belgian (brewed in this country for people with no real understanding of ale) |
