Hi, I have a few hours free on Christmas morning/day (family elsewhere and will catch up/celebrate with them late afternoon/evening)
If any organisation could do with an extra pair of hands (police check welcome, if needed) I would be happy to help out. It must be local as I do not drive.
I do plan to get in touch with the local area/borough Voluntary centre/s in the New Year to find out about help needed/offer some of my time regularly but as it is so close to Christmas Day now, thought a post here might be best, to be able to offer my help (supervised obviously)
Also, this thread may cause others to comment, ask or give info etc. ( I presume that this will be ok with the webmaster/all? hope so anyway)
All good for the community and people in general <smile>
Any organisation needing some help may let me/us know here (and contact details) or if wanting to ask me something personal/directly can mail me on scorpy_sue@yahoo.co.uk
Thanks

Crisis have shelters all around London over Christmas, although I don't know if they have anything in these parts. Speaking from experience, it's an absolutely brilliant way to spend time during Christmas week. They might be able to put you in touch with another local volunteer for a car share. As far as I remember you do 8 hour shifts. http://www.crisis.org.uk/page.builder/volunteer.ht ml

Or you could contact the Voluntary Care Centre, our local charity in the Forest Hill and Sydenham area, who provide Christmas lunches for isolated people. Have a look at their website first or send an email to info@voluntarycarecentre.co.uk.
