Does anyone (perhaps regulars in there) know whats happening with the St Germains Pub on the corner of St Germans Road and Brockley Rise? It seems to be suddenly boarded up - I hope its not going to lie derelict! Are there plans for renovation?

the owners have moved back to ireland, not show what is going to happen, will probably end up as flat which would be a shame as a decent pub would be appreciated

I've lived in FH for about 3 years and throughout that time I've always assumed the St Germain was shut. It was only recently that I discovered it had been open for business all along. Shame it's closed, but I didn't get the impression they were touting for any new business anyway. Hopefully someone takes it on as a pub again. The only other good pub in the area is the Blythe Hill (which is fabulous).

See the earlier thread on the SE23 pub crawl - but if we repeat it there will be far less venues as they all seem to be turning into trendy bars - is it true that the Foresters is to become an All Bar one?

Haven't heard about that. Out of town All Bar Ones generally turn into havens for local folk to bottle each other on Friday and Saturday nights. Also, since The Railway Telegraph has changed hands it has taken a rapid slide towards being unvisitable.

The Foresters Arms always had an 'All Inn (That's INN not BAR) One' sign on its front. It has been redesigned so it is more prominate. I'm not sure if All Inn One is a chain or a brewery or not. But it was always an All Inn One and it is not an All Bar One.

Phew.....
We've put the All Bar Ones, Slug and Lettuce and Pitcher and Pianos off for the time being, only a matter of time.....

Anyone have an update? Here's hoping that the wheels are in motion to re-develop it as a pub and not flats. This bit of FH really needs a decent one.

According to a sign outside and the Punch Taverns website, the pub is going to be refurbished. Should mitigate some of the recent closures in the area.

Just had an e-mail from the nice people at Punch Taverns re: the refurbishment.

"It is my understanding that the works have already started and planned to be completed by mid / end of September. The pub will reopen when we have found the right person to take a new lease with us."
