I am a member of a band based in SE23. We want to take some publicity photos in Da'Hill. Any suggestions for little architectural gems that would make an interesting backdrop?

Is that real place, or an in-joke that I don't get?

My greenhouse is off limits, Adam, after I let Girls Aloud use it for the cover of their next single - a cover version of Iron Maiden's Bring your daughter to the slaughter. They trashed the place - and they seemed like such nice girls. How about the Moor Park Tavern? That seems to be of massive interest to some people.

We will be using the bandstand in The Horniman, the ruined chapel up Cox Walk (fnar) and the old 50s style garage opposite the Blyth Hill Tavern...

Any other ideas?

So what's the name of this band, mark? Could I have heard of you or are you unsigned?

We are called Scott Moods, not signed yet, but things are going very well.

Well, all the best with it. Just remember to stay away from the posh estate when you're having these pictures done, as it's a terminally uncool place that no up and coming band should want to be associated with.

Can I suggest the Lewisham Conservative Club frontage on Dartmouth Road. It might help our membership drive and give you a whole previously untapped audience. I must admit it's a bit of an ancient relic but that might suit your purposes too! I think newman's becoming tempted by the prospect of joining so it could be a popular choice all round.

The shop front of the conservative club? unless he wants to crash and burn at first post I would stay well clear of that place!

Newman was Danny at the Girls Aloud greenhouse photo shoot or did you not tell him for the fear of him getting excited and doing as they say in Bo'Selecta a 'sex wee'

Good luck with your band mate, there is a lot of local talent around here in terms of music, must be something they put in the water!

Ah Adam, are you another one of these liberals in our midst? I'd have thought it would go down well with audiences throughout the home counties at least! Not forgetting the important precedent of Salford's most famous sons (apart from the Red Devils of course!) when they posed outside the local lad's club for their album photos. It's all part of our local heritage and a good deal fuller of character than most of the local youth-clubs.

Liberal? do me a favour, as another poster hit the nail on the head 'a wash out at national level'

They don't know what policies to make, they jump on the band wagon of Tory/Labour policies and either slag them off into the ground or bring out a similar one and change a bit of the manifesto wording. Much like copying someones homework at 8.55am just before it should be handed in to your English teacher for marking.

Do you honestly think you will win the next General Election Mannew or make significant gains?

You (not you personally) bled the country dry, crippled our NHS, made the dole queues miles in length and made so many people loose their homes through negative equity through bad economic management. I think people won't be forgiving nor forgetting just yet.

Mannew, again with the Man Utd nonsense? Please, this is a Sarf London website, no more mention of the team whose name I would rather not speak again. You'll start annoying the Millwall supporters and you wouldn't like it if you made them angry. Oh and you know who are from Trafford, on the outskirts of Manchester, and not Salford, although I'm sure you already knew that.

Adam, I had to keep the Girls Aloud shoot a secret from Danny, although this wasn't easy, as he is a member of their fanclub and knows their every move. For added security, I arranged the photoshoot early in the morning, when Danny is out doing his milk round, robbing houses or whatever antics he gets up to at those godforsaken hours.

You watch out Newman, before you know it your 2 pints of Semi Skimmed and 1pt of Orange juice will be no more! You shouldn't mess with the Danny, he knows some ginger bird in a band who wud get fings done if she was an MP! Be told :}

Adam. I think I asked if you were a liberal, not a Liberal. From your reply perhaps not either. Let's not get into politics but I feel it's only fair I should reply to your outburst. In answer to your question on who will win the next election hasn't the Conservative Party effectively won every general election since 1979? After all, Mr Blair's policies are further right than much of Conservative party ever traditionally was before the late 80's/early 90's. Perhaps it's that you're really so upset about.

Newman. It is still a free country. We're not under house arrest or greenhouse arrest yet so last time I looked supporting Manchester was not a crime - in any part of the country. so in the words of a well known Palace supporter: "play the game newman or off you go for an early bath" (or something along those lines anyway)!

Do me a favour, the country has started to get back on track the past 8 years after 19 years of goom. You won't be winning any election for a very long time. The only winners in the Conservative party will be the people who win the raffle at the Conservative Central office Christmas party in December.

Supporting Man Utd should be a crime, particularly if you're not from Manchester. Five years in prison. No appeal. Anyway, you're obviously not a proper footie fan, so I will let you go your own merry way.

And as for your 'Labour are essentially the Tories argument', give it up. Whatever else you think of Mr Blair, there are noticeable differences between his Labour Party and the Conservative governments that took this country to the cleaners.

Actually, you've got to feel a bit sorry for Mannew - he supports a football team that, despite their claims to greatness, played second fiddle to Arsenal last year and Chelsea this season and for many more to come. And he doesn't even come from Manchester and, like most southern Man Utd fans, hasn't been to Old Trafford judging by his Salford comment. And he votes Conservative, the less said about the better. Mannew, I salute your support of lost causes.

Man Utd out of Europe again. Nevermind Tory boy, you can always support Chelsea from now on, just like you probably used to support Liverpool during the 80s.

Chaps, I just wanted to thank you all for the warmth of your welcome to a new poster on the site. I fully understand that this is all part of the initiation ritual and that it will take time before newman shapes up as a ready successor to Michael Howard. I can see he has all the attributes: the rough diamond just needs a little polishing.

newman I confess to being a little confused about your comments on supporting your local team. Did I imagine it or did another post identify you as being from Scarborough or Scunthorpe or one of the northern towns? By the way I will be getting behind Chelsea in the Champions League now. Surely you chaps will want to get behind the English teams too.

Fanboy_Mark, try down Havelock Walk, the beacon at the top of One Tree Hill or the really funky downstairs bar at Question on Dartmouth Road.

And it won't be long before you start getting behind Chelsea for the Premiership as well, I'll bet. You shouldn't be too surprised that you've been getting a hard time. You come on a South London website, telling everyone that you're a Man Utd fan and a Tory in an area that is not traditionally a Conservative stronghold. What did you expect - the red carpet treatment?

Why not lark about on the Horniman’s grassy telly tubby roof? Or drape yourselves over the unusual vintage cars parked outside the butcher’s on Wood Vale? There's a cemetery across the road too - classic glowering-amid-the-tombstones photo op - if your band's of a vaguely indie bent...

Don't remember saying that I was a northerner. Unless it was that comedian who was pretending to be me a while back - can't be bothered to check back through the posts. I have seen my future and it involves being leader of the Tory party. Good lord, I might as well end it all now.

Artists studios, v.nice Cuban(?) looking building.

Nunhead cemetry (not SE23) might be an idea, if you want to encourage adolescent morbidity. What about the big old mansions on Sydenham Hill. Apparently they figure in Sherlock Holmes novels. With the right lighting...

You could do something reminiscent of the cover of Revolver in Sydenham Woods.

'Flats' on Underhill Road for gritty urban grit...

Ah right, that thing... Yeah, that's a good one. What's that weird little religious cult building near the big Church?

Fanboy, I'll get some photos today by the former Moor Park Tavern, plenty of atmosphere around there, old cars, derelict building, fly tipping and a cemetary. Perhaps I'll see you later but meanwhile as you are a happening new group how about putting somehthing on the Rockin in Forest Hill thread that did not get beyond 1990

I've been thinking about doing something around Forest Hill for a while so maybe we can put ore heads together. Check out my website on: www.okeycokey.com. If you like my stuff send be and email and we can take it from there. Cheers
