Following Dave's multi posts, I got thinking:-

Since the username and password system has come in, just who has registered?

I know Brothers Newman and BaggyDave still remain! Have we lost the rest? incidentally since the username and password system was introduced, crime in the SE23 area has dropped 19% to include muggings, car thefts and alike! :P

Blimey, you were busy last night, Dave...Adam, it seems that the only regular posters at the moment are you, me, Dave and BT. I have seen a couple of other regulars make fleeting appearances since the new system came in to being, but that's about it. Then again, perhaps the decrease in posts is not such a bad thing...If you cast your mind back to last year, apart from the aforementioned posters and a couple of others who have fallen off the radar (such as Pippa and TJ), a lot of the posts on this site were a waste of time - e.g. people claiming to be mugged in bad English, people moaning about crime, begging etc in bad English and people abusing the previous system by using several different usernames to make childish comments. They're not exactly missed, are they?

I think Dave was pining for you Newman! Your right the silly and childish comments and posters inflicting messages supposedly from authentic posters have disappeared which is fantastic.

There are some quirky people missing though, where is girl’s aloud number 1 fan? Where is TJ?

Do we put up missing posters on trees and lampposts around FH?

I suspect that Danny isn't allowed out to play anymore after Mrs Danny discovered his sordid secret re. Girl's Aloud. Or perhaps his pirate obsession has caused him to acquire an annoying parot and take to the high seas in search of treasure. Or perhaps Danny is actually Dave, TJ is me and Pippa is Adam. It's all a bit confusing.

Well, i'm new to this, I will try not to be mugged in bad English or even claim that I have been. from the other side of the tracks, the Catford End, habituee of the Blythe Hill Tavern, which incidentally does traditional english pub food (a toasted sandwich if you're lucky). I'm probably not posh enough to join in with you people though.

Think my keyboard was drunk last night - at least I provoked some lively discussion amongst all 4 of us. It is a shame that this resource isn't used more - sort of like a community support centre - I don't think all my highly witty inputs (OK purile if you want) have driven the masses away. The one-off posting do amuse me though - and are worth resurrecting. Also the way we go off track as well. But none of my postings seem to provoke any real outrage which is a shame.

More thoughts later

Welcome Andy, always good to have new members!

Everyone is welcome, no one is posh as you say, we are just full of like minded banter and always game for a laugh but at the same time concentate on the serious subjects that matter to local residents.

So whats the toasted sandwich of the month @ the Blythe then?

Dave does the Blythe come under the planned pub crawl? Newman am I coming as Pippa or Adam? answers on a postcard :-)))))

Blyth Hill Tavern certainly is on the list ladies and gents, and a favourite of mine too! (Sort of a MPT on the Eastern front)

Blythe Hill Tavern...No doubt I will be accused of joining the whinge squad, but do you plan on going to any pubs in FH, Dave? Or is this a pub crawl that will steadfastly avoid any pubs in the area, preferring to go to a load of places on the outskirts of town? I'll be in the Hob whilst you lead the others on a merry dance. Feel free to join me when you've finished with the MPT and BHT. No offence to the latter, but it's not in FH!!

Beautifully clear and cold at the moment. The white stuff is a bit further to the east, with lots of schools closed and usual chaos on roads etc. I work with people from Montreal who laugh derisively at our snow and think we are all a bunch of wimps. I shall be back in the 'hood Sunday week for my bi-monthly exposure to SE23.

Montreal is supposed to be a fantastic place to visit. The only thing that put me off Canada was how expensive everyone tells me it is!

bi monthly exposure, how brave ;))

Blythe Hill Tavern is in SE23! Montreal is a great place to visit but not at this time of year. I was there when it was -22C with no windchill, not a lot of fun but the place has a lovely sleaziness about it, lots of nice bars, live music, bizarre food and a very strange french dialect. The fast food of favour there is poutine, which is chips covered with a kind of curd cheese and smothered in gravy. You can try a non-authentic version in the Maple Leaf in Maiden Lane although I wouldn't recommend it. It is not an expensive place at all if you keep out of the tourist traps. Food, accomodation and drink are considerably cheaper.

The BHT is nearer to Catford than FH, so doesn't count in my book. It was my understanding that Dave was arranging a pub crawl around FH, although perhaps I got this wrong as I don't read many of his posts. You have to draw the line somewhere - you can't go to every pub in SE London in one evening. It's madness, I tell you.

In protest, I'm arranging my own pub crawl on the same evening as Dave's around pubs in FH and nowhere else. Anyone care to join me? Anyone?

I also notice Danny is back, he made a point about Girls Aloud and MPs.

Well he has got a point, they can surely do better and look nicer than Anne Widdicombe!

So much for him being dead

Megan, the Blythe Hill tavern is a proper pub. There are very few left, the rest being turned into poncey wine bar type places or 'chain' pubs. Vive la blythe. It also does toasted sandwiches.

I'm sure the BHT is great if you live in Catford, which, let's be honest, is not the nicest place in the world. Besides FH has its fair share of 'proper' pubs to offset the poncey wine bars etc, so no need to venture that far afield, even if their toasted sandwiches are a thing of great beauty.

Adam, I wouldn't worry about Dave - he made his last post on Saturday am. Hardly a reason to send out a search party. Don't worry, I'm sure he'll be back before too long to bore us all with his opinions on everythng and have a go at anyone who doesn't agree with his wishy washy liberal leanings.

Danny, because I was raised in Australia my understanding of the term 'liberal' has been influenced by the political scene there. The Australian equivalent of the British Conservative Party are called The Liberal Party. So, 'liberal leanings' means 'conservative leanings'. But I may have it wrong. What do you mean, if you are British, by 'liberal leanings'?

05:59 am! That is an early post!

Danny are you a milkman or a burgular?

or you off to a girls aloud gig?

Wouldn't call Dave and his opinions wishy washy! One of the few people on here to strikes up convo, talking of conversations who did you vote for in the Eurovision vote?

I got my money on you voting for Katie Price ;}

Stupid Selardoor. *hits head on computer keyboard*

I do see that there are 'Liberal leanings' (capital 'L') which has a particular meaning to Aussies. And then there are 'liberal leanings' which means tolerant of the ideas and behavior of others. Which most, if not all, of the rest of the English speaking world mean.

'liberal-leanings-meaning' crisis over.

Move on people...there's nothing to see here. Move on.

Well. my scouting mission at the East Dulwich Hob was a resounding success. Hic. I can confirm that having the East Dulwich Comedy Club in FH is a bit silly, but it's the nearest they can get at the moment, so well worth the trip...Didn't think I would ever agree with Danny, but for once he has a point (and not one mention of Girls Aloud or pirates either, well done that man!). Dave doesn't need any encouragement, Adam - the other morning this site might as well have been renamed baggydave.com. And this is the man, remember, who once claimed that he singlehandedly made this site interesting. He'll probably call me another name after this, but what the heck.

Moving on to more important matters - Adam, did Jordan win the Eurovision thingy. Is the buxom beauty representing us at the annual snoozefest?

Unfortunately she didn't win

She looked like Linda La Hughes from Gimme Gimme Gimme in her vile pink one piece cat suit.

http://supollard.org/gimme.html - is a great resemblance for Jordan, I mean Katie Price last night. Check it out.

Luckily for the rest of us, Javine (the Flop star who didn't get into Girls Aloud because of the Ginger one piping her to the post, much to the pleasure of Danny!) was selected to represent the UK. No doubt because of political bias we will get nil points.

But what the heck, there is always next year!

'I'm sure the BHT is great if you live in Catford, which, let's be honest, is not the nicest place in the world.' SO is this a SE23 site for the unCatfordy bits of SE23? What about the Peckamy bits or the Sydenhamy bits? Don't they count?

Well I hope there are other insomniacs out there wanting a chat. Les has probably just enjoyed a night out at the Blythe Hill Tavern, perhaps others are just getting back from a night out at Twiglets night club in Sydenham (or whatever it is called now). But it does appear that we are down to a dribble. (You can buy an executive toy, a life sized head that comes out with sayings like "I couldn't agree with you more", "what an excellent idea".. seems like I'm talking to myself on this website)

Two more starters for ten. Well they are actually existing threads. Good to see that local resident Timothy Spall is doing a voice over for Tescos, perhaps he'd be interested in my issues over the London Road store.

Secondly, on rat running - I stopped a car coming down Manor Mount the wrong way, but strangely enough going quite slow. Do you know this is a one way street mate? He didn't look like he was going to stab me. Yep, I live round here, it's my wife's fault for leaving the car in the wrong place. It amused me anyway.

Maybe Adam the Red should actually register rather than simply reading the posts, go on mate. Also planning a where's TJ campaign, have a poster with a guy in pipe and slippers, that should fit the bill.

Hi Adam
Perhaps the lack of posting is because yet again NTL is denying us access, saying we are "Forbidden Access on this server". What is going on with them? I am accessing this morning via Wannadoo but as its costing 1p a minute rather that my NTL unlimited access I can't stay on very long. Its about time they got their act together and solved this problem!!

Sure you used to contribute to witty repartee once. Much of what I put on is relevant to the area (OK some of it is nonsense but it has had entertainment value). Maybe I got you confused you with TJ, Jack, Pippa and he who can not be mentioned. Can't inlclude Hiltop as he is too cool to get dragged into anything like this.

Getting more out of the Glastonbury postings on e-bay at the mo.

That I thought he was responsible for amusing comments like you and the others - no offense intended. Glad to hear from you anyway, and that someone had read this, if you have any comments, eg on dead garden ponds, SE23 pubs or the state of shops in Sydenham then they will be welcome.
