I wonder if Linda Barker has had anything to do with it

Don't read the Standard much these days. What was the gist of the article, ronnie?

Apologies for my absence from this site, Dave, but I've been tied up with that annoying thing called work. Don't you just hate it when your job gets in the way of your daily visit to se23.com? And yes, Dave, I do get the distinct feeling that Newman has joined forces with TJ to gang up on you.

I try to avoid it too if I can but I thought I'd better buy a copy as I'm planning to buy in the area.

I think I'd better be quick cos it made the area look lovely and before we know it we'll be overun with ES readers!

Seriously tho it did highlight the green nature of the area - Wells Park in Sydenham was heavily featured - as was the Horniman. They also made much of the 'bargains' to be had - "2 bed flats for under 200k are the rule rather than the exception" - and of course the forthcoming tube connection

If I didn't already live there I'd be on the first available 176! You mark my words - it'll be like a middle class grapes of wrath this weekend - people loading up the volvo's with all their worldly possessions and looking back at the old homestead in Clapham with a teary eye as they head of for the promised land of SE23!!

And not one mention of the gun toting crack fiends, evil drug dealers and cash point hijackers that certain people would have us believe are rife in the area? Amazing.

Not amazing really, they just haven't sorted out any decent PR of late! Don't worry though, I'm sure the ES or the SLP will come to the rescue and put us all in the dark ages again soon with some horrific story of crime and general lawlessness!

After all, there is an election on the horizon!

Yes, the scaremongerers have been noticeable by their absence of late - almost a week has gone by without someone posting an 'evil drug dealers/beggars/muggers stole my car, set my house on fire and ran off with the wife' type message. Perhaps they have all moved to lovely Sydenham as was threatened. Never know your luck.

Is this the same Newman as of Seinfeld fame? You always were sad.
