Everything decent seems to be closing down at the Kirkdale end of Dartmouth Road! The gym/beauty shop closed down suddenly at Xmas. The whole of Dartmouth Road from Forest Hill to Kirkdale looks like a shanty town. |

faces has been up for sale for years obviously they didn't get the buyer they needed. I noticed a new estate agent is opening call ID property but that seems to be the only new thing happening at that end |

Are we talking about my post office in Wood Vale, Forest Hill? Unfortunately that is no longer a post office but is still a good newsagents and does loose sweets you can buy in paper bags (pick and mix) just like they did when I was a lad. Unfortunately the pub three doors down from the post office is no longer. Being a posh estate with Linda Barker living just down the road one would expect a trendy bar or a gastro pub. Come on Linda, pull your finger out |

I heard it was going to be more of an 'amusement arcade' than betting shop. Somewhere with loads of fruit machines, one armed bandits and video games as well as light snacks. The kind of place I would have loved to have in Forest Hill when I was under 18 (and therefore too young to enter) but as I am (considerably) older than 18 I don't much care for anymore. |

Too late, there is a 'Casino' opening shortly in Crystal Palace - ie an up-market arcade.
Wonder what happened to all the arcades we used to have in my posh estate, perhaps they migrated to the poorer parts of SE23 or maybe Linda Barker and her mob put an end to this sort of thing. Three threads in one, four if I mention Sainsburys |
