What on earth is going on with the traffic light sequence in Dartford Road. For the past two weeks (between 8.35 and 9.10am) traffic has been tailing back from the traffic lights on the corner of Dartmouth Road and London Road to the roundabout at Kirkdale. It is taking an average of 15-20 minutes for buses/cars to cover approx. 1/2 mile. Yesterday morning I walked from Sydenham Girls School to the bus stop outside the Capitol in London Road. I passed two buses in the traffic jam and then waited for them for 10 minutes at the London Road bus stop.

It has nothing to do with roadworks, because once the traffic turns left from Dartmouth Road into London Road the road is clear!

Marianne, the traffic tailing back on Dartmouth Road is connected to roadworks. The main problem is on London Road (A205 South Circular) at its junction with Sydenham Rise, opposite the Horniman. Many of the extra vehicles clogging up Kirkdale and Dartmouth Road, and delaying your bus, are there because their usual morning route down Sydenham Rise and turn right into London Road is blocked off at the foot of Sydenham Rise while the source of the water leaks on London Road continues to be investigated.
