Building works on St David's Road

There has been on-going building works on the corner of St David's Road and Waldram Crescent for some months - converting the old public toilets into flats I believe.

However, I have on several occasions tried to complain to the Council about the work being undertaken there and the fact that the builders seem to have no regard for and be able to block the footpath with their tools, skips and other equipment and rubbish, without keeping the pavement, or at least clear enough to pass-by.

I've been passed to several Depts. within Lewisham Council (Building contral and highways to name but a few) and no-one seems to know who would have an interest in such an obstruction.

Does anyone know which Dept or individual even, I might be able to contact.

The building works are on a route used by many to get to the Nursery nearby and neither children nor prams are able to pass without walking in the Road. Even if there was somesort of warning the the pavements was obstructed further on, then at least you'd try and find an alternative route, rather than try and squeeze small children and buggies between heavy building equipment and passing traffic!!!.

One small point ,they are no where near Waldran Cresent. They are on the junc of St David's and Devonshire. Not many people realise that Devonshire starts at Smith's.
Whilst I agree they have been a nuisance I think politeness works both ways.
A few weeks a ago when I passed ,a builder was taking down scaffold and stopped for me to pass. I , of course , thanked him and he commented he had been there a couple of hours and I was the first person who had spoken to him.
Another question who will move into a toilet. Could be inconvenient. Are the urinals a fixure and fitting.

I hadn't realised Devonshire Road started there, but I've passed by and regardless of politeness or courtesy, they have completely blocked the pavement and have just looked on as I've tried to get a buggy over live cables, between skips and porta-toilets, whilst trying simultaneously trying to hold on to a toddler to get him to stay as close to the pavement as possible (bearing in mind that we've been forced to walk in the Road).

Surely abit of consideration or a direction the powers that be, to keep the right of way clear in the first place, would mean no-one is reliant on goodwill or politeness.

I won't be queuing to live in an ex-public toilet on such a major Road!!!

Since when has Davids Road been canonized.

Dear Mr Pedantic and Ms T
I take your point re canonisation also I agree with T, impoliteness is a national disgrace.
Apart from being a lavatory it will be incredibly noisy and dirty I would think. You have only got to look at the thick dirt on the new windows next door. Whoever lives there will not be the person who granted planning permission.
