Every time it is hot and I wish to open my windows someone decides to have a smelly bonfire in the Manor Mount area. Why? Has anyone else noticed this? I thought in London this practice was restricted or am I imagining it? Please could I ask people not to wreck other peoples clean air!

Hils,

Which part of Manor Mount are you referring to?

Sitting outside last night having a BBQ (gas not charcoal) when one of the houses on Manour Mount decided to burn garden waste. I think it is the second or third as you turn left from Waldenshaw Road into Manour Mount. I would just like to thank them and ask that they throw a bit few more wet leaves and the odd tire on the fire as well as I really enjoyed it.

Please people, have a thought. The local council is happy to remove waste at no cost, they are happy to take waste in your bins (if they are in bags) and there are many, many waste disposal sites. So dont burn it at night because you think the smoke will be hidden by darkness.

You know who you are!

I can safely say it was not the second house, that is mine! I was away yesterday evening so I never noticed anything. I have had a look and I can not see any evidence of a recent fire.

I do remember that a chap on Waldenshaw road used to have a fire at the very back of his garden, it could also be somebody from HOR.

I believe there is a house in Ewelme Road which is a common culprit when there are smelly bonfires. They have been reported to Environmental Health by several people on several occasions, and have received formal notices. Ordinary garden waste should only give off a musky woody smell- this I believe was synthetic material and tyres which are toxic.

We live in the Fieldings and the smoke appeared to be coming from the Honor Oak Road direction - but it is very difficult to be specific Vito. All I know is that it stunk and certainly was not a barbeque. Please stop whoever you are!
