Has anyone else noticed that the back entrance/exit to Forest Hill station is very poorly lit? When I return from work in the evenings, I use the little gate and the staircase is pitch-black. It will only be a matter of time until somebody has an accident.

Yes, it's pretty gloomy around there - wouldn't like to go down those steps after today's ice. And the alternative is to cross the footbridge then brave the underpass, not an enticing prospect. Hmm, things need to be tidied up around that end of town.

There is no CCTV there as of yet, there is on the platform and through the underpass but not on those steps.

You may have noticed just up from the Weatherspoons pub and by the Cabin cornershop by where Finches removals used to be there are two big 'lampost' type structures these will eventually house CCTV cameras linked to Lewisham police, as and when they go live I have no idea!

Maybe the best person to speak to is your local community bobby

Response to Adam Hunter and the question of CCTV camera. The system was due to go live just before Christmas but due to techanical hitches this has not happened yet but there should be some update in the next two/three weeks. Will keep you all informed

That is good news June.

But can the cameras see in pitch dark?

We desperately need to sort out the rear exit/entrance to the station.

Peoples first impressions of the area last and as the Horinman is attracting more poeple than ever, it would greta if rail track, or who ever it is nowadays were to clean up the area around the rear of the station.

I agree, plus there's a dip in the concrete at the bottom of those steps which fills with untold liquids (!) and the whole area stinks day and night.... grim.

If it was well lit, how would the local yobs be able to do there mugging and urination without being caught. (SILLY BILLIES)

All of the lighting around the station needs to be improved. The lighting on the bridge is still very poor and the whole station area at night does not feel very safe.
