Hi. I am 23 and have lived in Forest Hill since October '02 and I was wondering where people would recommend I go to meet people of a similar interest to me. I am a budding guitarist/singer-songwriter and I am looking to start a band soon. Any help on this would be much appreciated, my e-mail address is: rock_ali29@hotmail.com |

Hi Ali, What kind of stuff do you play? I also live in Forest hill and play drums.... My influences? (I'm glad you asked) fairly eclectic really Supergrass, Led Zep (but don't get your hopes too high I'm not that good), Smashing Pumkins, The Cure, Pink Floyd, Nirvana, Pearl Jam (Damn! These are all oldies!!! Ok, I also like Blink 182, Red hot chilly peppers ( in small doses and the old stuff more than the "By the Way" overdose we've been subjected to over the past year), Morcheeba, Portishead, massive attack, Faithless....Ok I'll stop here you get the idea. Michael, Thanks for the tip, I'll go and check it out. |

Les, I live on Church Rise. I doubt you've heard me play (I haven't been in a "serious" band since 98) although the heavy rain we've had lately may have something to do with the unique quality of my work..... Joking aside I'd love to play again and if anyone is interested in starting up a band let me know!!!! |

Philip - any chance you can give the Hob a facelift/makeover? It's a bit manky looking outside and a bit of an student's union inside. no offence intended, just my 2p's worth. |

The Hob is fine as it is - it's a proper pub and always has a good atmosphere. Rather a 'student's union' atmosphere than a gang of 12 year olds getting out of their heads on alcopops at 50p a throw. If you want bland chain pubs or bar/restaurants, then there are plenty of these in the area. |
